Preparing a great resume and cover letter for a non-academic job requires specific information for public and private sector jobs. While many graduate students are considering non-academic careers, they are not sure how to approach the transition. In this presentation, we will delve further into two essential components of the non-academic job search: resumes and cover letters. This presentation will be attentive to the differences between curriculum vitaes and resumes and academic and non-academic cover letters. Crucially, it will also help academics learn to sell their particular skill sets. During the workshop, grad/prof students and postdocs will learn:
1. How to successfully convert a CV to a resume
2. Write a cover letter for public and private sector jobs
3. Learn industry specific terminology and how to translate your experiences for an industry audience
Please use the link to register for each workshop in the non-academic job search series.
