Classrooms are one of the few places in an increasingly polarized world where students have to engage with different perspectives in an extended manner. This can be an opportunity for transformative learning experiences, but many GTAs feel underprepared to foster meaningful discourse. In this workshop we introduce the framework of Universal Design to anticipate and ameliorate potential sources of conflict that inhibit learning. Participants will leave with tools to design an inclusive learning environment.
