OUAB Presents: Don't Try This at Home! with Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman

Time: Monday, April 17, 2017 7:30 PM - 9:30 PM

Location: Archie Griffin Grand Ballroom

Admission: 1 per BuckID

On Monday, April 17th, OUAB is hosting Don’t Try this at Home! with Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman.  This moderated Q&A style event will feature former co-hosts of The Discovery Channel’s MythBusters, Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman, who will be live on stage in the Archie Griffin Grand Ballroom.

The event will be moderated by John Beacom, Professor of Physics and Astronomy and Director of CCAPP at the Ohio State University.

Hailing from Indiana farm country, JAMIE HYNEMAN is a multifaceted man: He's been a wilderness survival expert, boat captain, diver, linguist, animal wrangler, machinist and cook, to name but a few. ADAM SAVAGE has spent his life gathering skills that allow him to take what's in his brain and make it real. He's built everything from ancient Buddhas to futuristic weapons, from spaceships to dancing vegetables, from fine art sculptures to animated chocolate -- and just about anything else you can think of.

Running from 2003 to 2016, MythBusters has been a show that many college students grew up watching and which influenced many to find an interest in the STEM field. The event will give a behind the scenes view into the lives of Adam and Jamie as they ventured through the years of MythBusters and highlight some of their favorite moments. Students will also get the opportunity to ask Adam and Jamie a question following the keynote portion of the event.
