The mission of the Ohio Union Activities Board as the student programming organization at The Ohio State University is to provide diverse programs and events that are educational, entertaining, and thought provoking for the students of the Columbus campus. OUAB strives to create a fun, accessible, and challenging environment for its members that empower each member to change and shape the lives of fellow students while strengthening their own leadership skills and fostering personal growth.
The Ohio Union Activities Board membership is composed of general members and the executive board. General members are responsible for...
- Serving on one of 9 committees
- Volunteering at one event programmed by the committee in which you serve
- Volunteering at two events programmed by another committee; one of which must be a Flicks for Free or Grad/Prof event
- Completing 2 marketing tasks
- Attending 11 out of 14 membership meetings
There are 12 executive board member positions: President, Vice President, Director of Operations, 2 Co-Directors of Marketing, Dates and Data Chair, Lectures Chair, Visual & Fine Arts Chair, Concerts Chair, Collaborative Events Chair, Special Events Chair, and the Comedy Chair. These students are responsible for leading each program from conception to reality. The general members volunteer and even take roles as project leaders, however the executive board members are ultimately responsible for a successful event. Executive board members also have requirements:
- Hold four office hours each week in the OUAB office
- Attend two events programmed by other committees
- Attend all executive board meetings
- Attend all general member meetings
Executive board members are selected during Spring Semester through an application process. More information will be available on the website during Fall Semester.

There is a separate committee of the Ohio Union Activities Board dedicated to programming designed for the graduate and professional students at Ohio State. The OUAB Grad/Prof Committee coordinates more than 50 events throughout the year focused on personal/professional development, social engagement, and family-friendly activities. While OUAB Grad/Prof events are created to meet the needs and interests of Ohio State graduate and professional students, all OUAB events are open to all OSU Columbus students.
